Special partnership for a better quality of life: MAWA clothes hangers and Familia social facilities in Pfaffenhofen

In a quiet corner of Pfaffenhofen, just 150 metres away from each other as the crow flies, there are two organisations that may not seem to have much in common at first glance, but which form a wonderful symbiosis when they work together: MAWA Kleiderbügel and Familia Sozialeinrichtungen.

While MAWA has been known for years for quality and innovation in the production of clothes hangers, Familia has dedicated itself to caring for mentally ill adults in order to improve their quality of life and avoid the "revolving door psychiatric effect".

For over 20 years, these two organisations have worked together to create a space that not only provides meaningful activity, but also builds self-confidence and improves the quality of life of the people in their care. Familia runs a day centre where up to 25 clients come together every day to be active and engage in regular, rhythmic work. For many of them, this is not just an activity, but also a source of joy and pride. With two educators at their side, they feel supported and encouraged when they enter this part of the house and say: "We're going to work now."

A productive environment for personal growth: employment opportunities in the Familia building

On the ground floor of the Familia building is a 100 square metre room that is specially equipped for employment. Materials are delivered and packaged here while the clients work on the machines. Two punching machines and the task of assembling and packaging our ROFIT clamping bracket provide a meaningful activity that not only develops mental skills but also gives a sense of productivity.

"At our facility, it is particularly important for us to treat each other with respect and as equals. Our highest aspiration is to regain stability and quality of life in a protected environment." Says Julia Menzel, Managing Director Familia.

A shared mission for an inclusive community: the special partnership between MAWA and Familia

However, the collaboration between MAWA and Familia is not limited to the day care centre. MAWA is also an integral part of Familia's annual summer festival. This is an opportunity for MAWA staff to visit the centre and meet with the residents and carers, which is a wonderful way for both sides to learn from and inspire each other.

What makes this partnership so special is the mutual support and appreciation that exists between the two organisations. Familia provides a safe space where people with mental illness can find support and community, while MAWA's collaboration not only provides a meaningful employment opportunity, but also helps to raise awareness of the needs of these people in society.

For Familia and MAWA, this collaboration is not just a partnership, but a shared mission aimed at improving the lives of the people served and fostering an inclusive community.
