Knowledge sharing, cross-department dialogue, and mutual understanding are firmly anchored in MAWA’s corporate culture. A key format for this is the monthly “Lunch & Learn”: once a month, all department heads come together to gain insights into different topics and areas of responsibility, broadening their perspectives and learning from one another.
Each Lunch & Learn session is hosted by a different colleague. The most recent meeting was particularly meaningful: after more than 18 years at MAWA, Dirk Golenia took the opportunity to share his personal and professional highlights from nearly two decades of company history.
Lunch & Learn at MAWA: A Space for Exchange, Perspective, and Learning
The “Lunch & Learn” format at MAWA stands for open dialogue in a relaxed atmosphere. Complex topics are presented in an accessible way, backgrounds are explained, and experiences are shared – with the goal of better understanding connections and learning from one another.
Especially for cross-departmental topics, this format provides the ideal setting. It was therefore fitting that Dirk Golenia delivered his final contribution within this framework: his career has been closely linked to MAWA’s technical development.
A Personal Retrospective: 18 Years of Change, Challenges, and Progress
In his presentation, Dirk Golenia deliberately avoided focusing solely on figures or theoretical concepts. Instead, he took participants through concrete projects, challenges, and practical solutions from everyday operations.
He spoke about key technical conversions, machine relocations, and process optimizations that have shaped MAWA’s production over the years. Many of these projects required not only technical expertise, but also creativity, perseverance, and close collaboration across departments.
Experience That Enables Sustainable Solutions
A recurring theme in his retrospective was the long-term impact of technical decisions. Numerous solutions developed years ago are still in use today – a clear sign of forward-thinking planning and sustainable implementation.
For younger managers and newly appointed department heads in particular, this retrospective offered valuable insights into existing structures and processes – and into why certain systems function the way they do today.
More Than a Farewell: Knowledge Transfer That Endures
Dirk Golenia’s final Lunch & Learn contribution was far more than a farewell. It was a deliberate act of knowledge transfer and a powerful example of how important experience and open exchange are for the continuous development of a company.
His presentation encouraged reflection, opened new perspectives, and clearly demonstrated the value that long-standing employees bring to MAWA – both professionally and personally.
Thank You for 18 Years of Commitment and Experience
With his final Lunch & Learn, Dirk Golenia once again demonstrated what defines MAWA: expertise, openness, and the willingness to share knowledge.
We sincerely thank Dirk Golenia for more than 18 years of dedication, experience, and valuable contributions that have sustainably shaped MAWA. His impact continues – in processes, in projects, and in the people who have benefited from his knowledge.
